Showing in group show Love to Hate at Megan Mulrooney, curated by Brittany Fanning
Created in response to Love to Hate, Scar Tissue explores the ways we direct our attention outward: toward the people, habits, and everyday irritations that captivate us, or drive us crazy. Through fragmented figures, reaching hands, and pointing gestures, the work examines the space between reaction and reflection, suggesting that what we love to hate often has something to teach us. Rooted in my ongoing interest in consciousness and transformation, the drawing suggests that the things that catch our attention most often, and that we love to complain about, have a curious way of reflecting something back to us by revealing traces of where we’ve been shaped, challenged, and changed.
